Become Part of Our SY 26-27 School Advisory Committee (SAC)

We are excited to launch the School Advisory Committee (SAC) at Scott Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. We are currently establishing an election committee to oversee the election process. Once the election committee has been formed, we will share important election dates and additional information with our school community. 

For your awareness, we have included the SAC guidelines in this newsletter. Based on our student enrollment, Scott Middle School will have six SAC members. We currently have four returning members and will be seeking one additional parent/legal guardian representative and one staff member to join the committee. 

I look forward to building this team together as we work to support and strengthen our Bulldog community. 

The SAC is a vital part of our school's success. It serves as a collaborative advisory group made up of elected representatives who are committed to enhancing the educational environment for all students. Key SAC Functions Include: 

• Advising on school policies and programs 
• Promoting collaboration among the school, families, and military leadership 
• Identifying and helping resolve school-level challenges 
• Supporting initiatives that enhance student outcomes 

SAC meetings are open to the public, and we encourage all interested parents and guardians to become involved.

Requirements 

SAC candidates must be nominated in writing, with verification that they are eligible within their nominated category: 

1. Professional School Employee 
2. Sponsor, Parent, or Legal Guardian 
3. High School Student 

Eligibility 

1. Professional School Employees 

Candidates must: 

• Be full-time or permanent part-time employees (substitutes and support staff are not eligible in this category). 
• Be employed at the DoDEA school served by the SAC. 

2. Parents, Sponsors, and Legal Guardians 

Candidates must: 

• Be a parent, legal guardian, or sponsor of a DoDEA student attending the school served by the SAC. 
• Reside in the area served by the DoDEA school. 
• Be either an active-duty service member, family member, sponsor, parent, or legal guardian. 
• Individuals who are DoDEA employees and also parents, legal guardians, or sponsors of a student enrolled in a DoDEA school may choose to run as either a parent/legal guardian/sponsor or as a DoDEA employee, but not both. 

3. High School Student 

A DoDEA high school student who is enrolled in a DoDEA high school may be invited by the school principal or the SAC to serve as a committee member.
